I WANT A WELL-SOCIALISED DOG!

Everyone wants a sociable, confident dog, but it doesn’t come easy and a lot depends on genetics too. The first and most important step is to attend Puppy School (for puppies between 8-16 weeks of age) run by a qualified professional dog trainer. We give you practical tips on how to socialise your pup and teach some useful behaviours that both you and your pet will enjoy learning. Don’t wait until your puppy is too old – they can start as early as 8 weeks of age – the sooner the better!

WHY START SO YOUNG?

The first 3-14 (max. 16 weeks) in a puppy’s life is called the “critical socialisation period”. This is the time when they can make long-lasting associations about the world – both good or bad -, so it is important to socialise them properly. We have to be careful, because they are not fully vaccinated, but we can’t keep them in a bubble. Not introducing your new puppy to different people, environments, other animals during this important developmental stage can cause future behavioural problems.

QUALIFIED TRAINER

Our trainer has completed Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services with Delta Institute, the industry leading training organisation for dog behavioural trainers. Bea is also Fear Free certified and is full financial member of the Pet Professional Guild Australia and Delta Institute and has current comprehensive insurance. She has many years of experience as a dog behavioural trainer and regularly runs Puppy School classes.

FORCE-FREE TRAINING

Our Puppy School curriculum has been developed through years of experience and is based on industry best practice guidelines. We only use force-free training techniques, which have been proven to be the most effective and humane training method. During our lessons, there are absolutely no outdated training methods (such as dominance and pack theories), so you have peace of mind that you’re getting the best possible guidance.
